Founded in 1846, Ulysse Nardin originally manufactured marine chronometers for merchant and military ships.
In 1985, the revamped company created the ‘Astrolabium Galileo Galilei’ which displays local and solar time, the orbits and eclipses of the sun and the moon, and the positions of several major stars. Today, the company continues to produce highly functional mechanical watches. Ulysse Nardin also introduced a series of watches featuring enameled and cloisonné faces, which helped to revive the use of enameling in watchmaking.
